I posted this in the Sports Game discussion too because I'm not sure where it will get more attention. I have a Madcatz Xbox360 USB controller plugged into my PC with the Xbox 360 Drivers installed (it installed automatically when I plugged it into the PC.) When I load up Madden to configure the Controller, Madden sees it as a 'Gravis Gamepad'. And there's no other controller options except a Keyboard and a Keyboard+Mouse. I can map a couple of the buttons, but the colors don't match the Numbers on the pad in-game and there's no right-analog stick functionality (I can line up kicks with the left analog stick and the digital pad, but there's no right-analog stick to KICK the damm ball).
Also, the two back shoulder buttons don't function either - I have to press the controller's Select and Start buttons to see the Play Diagrams during the pre-snap. Very annoying. So what gives? Do I have to get an OFFICIAL Xbox 360 Controller to get the game to work right? Does anyone have any advice? Also - if I DO have to get an Official Xbox 360 controller for this game to work right on my PC, can anyone here tell me if the game plays just it does on a console with it? Do all the buttons work properly on it?
Thanks ahead of time for your help. Apparently these are the ONLY controlloers the game will recognize: Madden NFL 2008 Compatible PC Controllers Werecommend using a 10-button Dual Analog Gamepad. The supported Dual Analog Gamepads are listed below:. Logitech Dual Action.
Logitech Rumble Pad 2. Gravis Eliminator Aftershock. Thrustmaster Firestorm Dual Analog Gamepad. Thrustmaster Firestorm Dual Power 3.
Thrustmaster Firestorm Dual Analog 3. Thrustmaster Firestorm Wireless controller.
Microsoft Xbox 360 Controller for Windows According to EA, these controllers are specifically mapped for the PC version of Madden 08. Any other controller will have to be custom configured and are not guaranteed to be read properly.:(. Yes there is a fix for the Madcatz version controller. I've been playing Madden 07 on pc for a year now using both Madcatz and MS 360 controllers, but first you have to change your drivers. There is an issue with Madcatz controllers being detected properly by the pc as a genuine 360 controller setup.
Keep in mind I have NOT played Madden 08 yet, but this works for '07 and all other 360 ported pc games for me just fine. BEFORE YOU START HAVE YOUR CONTROLLER PLUGGED IN Go to the following website: 1. Download the 1.Windows XP Xbox 360 Driver(Latest) (Assuming that you are using WinXP.if not choose the correct driver package for your Operating System) 2. Download the 2. Updated Default Xbox 360 drivers profile.
(right click and save as) 3. Go to your Control Panel/System/Hardware Tab/Device Manager. In Device Manager find your Microsoft 360 Controller. Usually listed either as a Microsoft Controller near the bottom, or in the USB Root depending on which drivers you have installed.
When you find your current controller, right click and select uninstall. After you have unistalled your original 360 controller drivers, install the XBCD drivers you just downloaded. After the drivers have been installed, reboot your computer. If the drivers were installed correctly, you should now find your controller in Device Manager listed in the Human Interface Devices section as XBCD Xbox 360 Gamepad.
Now start up XBCD. After XBCD finds your controller, should be Gamepad 1 I beleive, click on the OPEN button and load up the XBCD profile you downloaded. Make sure that all of your buttons work fine, click SAVE and exit XBCD. You should never have to go into XBCD again unless you like fiddling with stuff. Madden should now detect your Madcatz contoller properly and all of the buttons, receiver icons, etc. Should be just like playing on an Xbox 360.
Please note that I've used this with Madden 07 and many other games, a few of which I've found don't work properly but not many. This is the only current way for the Madcatz controller to be recognized as a 360 controller.
And you can thank MS for that for screwing up driver support. Probably on purpose to get people to buy their controllers but who knows.
Good luck and feel free to PM me or email me if you need more help.
Basics What Madden game would be complete without an inundation of gaming options? Madden NFL 08 is absolutely no different than its predecessors, and even throws some new options into the mix. Below is a comprehensive list of game modes and other options available in the game with a brief overview of each. Keep in mind that some of the options will open up more options (and so on and so forth) which is represented below as well. Play Now Selecting 'Play Now' will allow you to quickly start a game against the computer or a friend with parameters you set.
You can control the time, the weather, time of day, and of course, which team you play as and against. Otherwise, 'Play Now' has little use to the Madden player who really wants to immerse him or herself in the truly epic parts of the game. Use 'Play Now' for a quick scrimmage, to test out a team or a player, or to get a feel for a particular field, weather condition, or other controlled variable that you may want to try out for size. Dxf laser cutting fonts. Game Modes As mentioned earlier, 'Game Modes' is the real meat of the game.
Here, you will find seven features that are all fun to use and have practical in-game applications. These seven features are discussed below: Franchise This is the reason many people purchase Madden year after year - so you can have the chance to play as your favorite team through many seasons.
Once you select this option, you will be asked to load a franchise or begin a new one. Choose your poison, then continue on to playing what is arguably Madden's deepest feature. Fantasy Challenge Madden NFL 08 introduces the series' newest option - the Fantasy Challenge. This mode takes advantage of the fantasy football craze sweeping the nation, allowing you to draft a team of your own choosing and following them through various leagues of varying competitiveness.
If you're keen on picking the next star or have gut instincts on certain players or moves, this is definitely a mode for you. What's more, it adds incredible depth to a game that already has incredible depth in its Franchise and NFL Superstar modes alone. Remember - this is a mode you'll want to explore if you want to unlock everything in the game, including the very team you decided to take to the top.
NFL Superstar If you ever imagined playing as just one particular player, a player which you create and control the ultimate destiny of, than this feature is what you want to explore. You can literally pick any position, create a player at that position, and then play only as him in-game, without even calling any of the plays on your team's behalf. Remember, this can be on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. But you don't only control the player on the field, but also off the field as well. Give it a go, and you'll see exactly what we're talking about. Madden veterans will be more familiar with this style of deep gameplay.
What's more, if you cultivated a player in EA's NCAA Football 08, you can import that character into the world of Madden! Tournament You can create unorthodox, un-NFL styles of play here by creating tournaments of varying 'types.' More akin to World Cup soccer or something of that nature, these tournaments are completely customizable and oddly enjoyable. Definitely check this option out when Franchise mode or playing against your friends has given you enough for one day. Mini Games This is a little aside to Madden, if you will, where you can run some random drills with various teams. For the hardcore football fan only. There's little enjoyment in these situations, many of which you regularly find during any given in-game situation.
However, the more you do here the more you can unlock, so if you're a completionist, as so many of us are, you'll be sure to spend extra time here. Practice It is what it says it is. What did you expect? Play Online There's really little to explain here - if you're a person who loves to play Madden online, then this is the option for you. Selecting this with an internet-ready gaming console will allow you to join other Madden players on the network, where you can putz around with friends or make some new enemies by showing them just how well you play the game. Remember, things get competitive online, so it's only for the well-prepared!
Features The Features part of the game is a little more straight-forward than Game Modes, simply because it's all about unique creations on your part, as well as a look into team rosters and historic teams. The real intriguing part of this section is creating your own player, team, playbook, or roster - this might be confusing, or even useless, to some, but we highly recommend you give these features a go at your earliest convenience.
They add some depth that you'd be surprised to find in a football game. My Madden The My Madden section is where you can find all of the Madden Cards you won in the game by accomplishing certain tasks in your various games. For instance, you get points for a long touchdown throw, a shutout, a blocked kick, or a quarterback sack. These points all go towards your Madden Cards, which is a collector's dream.
On the other hand, you can also find a stat book, as well as coaching strategies, gameplay settings and system settings. This is the section where you can also load and save various in-game 'personalities.'
In other words, you can load a franchise here, or save it. You can do this for all of your Madden saves at this very location. You can also find the Ring of a Champion here, which will chart your save file's progress through the annuls of Madden completion. As usual, depth, depth, and more depth. Skill Drills Skill Drills is an all-new option featured in Madden NFL 08 which allows you to work on some in-game fundamentals to become better at the game. The better you are at the game, generally, the more worthwhile your Madden experience will be. Therefore, Skill Drills may be a part of the game you will want to spend some time with, especially if you're new to the series.
However, even veterans will find worthwhile exercises in Skill Drills, considering some rare plays and rare occurrences happen with regularity in Skill Drills. EA Sports Extras This section can be explained with the utmost simplicity - you can check out all of your in-game extras (both unlocked by you and automatically unlocked) featured in Madden. In the beginning of the game, all that will be available to you is the Season Preview and the game's credits, but as you unlock things, so too will features be unlocked here.
.: October 5, 2007 (PS3) Mode(s) Madden NFL 08 is an based on the that was published by and developed. It was the 19th installment in the video game franchise. This is the last version of Madden to be released for the Microsoft Windows, and Madden NFL 08 would also eventually become the last video game for the Nintendo GameCube produced and released in North America. EA and had announced in June 2007 that a version for would be released at the same time as the other versions.
After the August 14 release date came and went without a Mac release, however, EA said it would be delayed until September or October 2007. A Spanish-language version of the game was released on December 11, 2007 for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360 platforms. By December 31, 2015, the Xbox 360 version had sold 1,169,587 copies in the United States. Madden NFL 08 has sold 4.5 million copies. It is also the last of the games in the Madden series to include all 6 teams. Contents. Gameplay Madden 08 runs at 60 frames per second on the Xbox 360, and 30 frames per second on the PlayStation 3.
A new branching animation system allows dynamic gameplay for the first time in the franchise. Players are no longer locked into animations but are now controlled more by the player. Features of the new animation system include mid-air collisions, big-time, one-handed catches, hurdles, sideline catches and gang tackling. Madden 08 brings back some features for its online play; for example, there will be a return of Season Mode and tournaments held online.
Another updated feature – dubbed Hit Stick 2.0 – will allow players to hit high or low by flicking the analog stick up or down. A new fatigue system has been implemented, disallowing users from taking a scrambling quarterback and repeatedly running around behind the line of scrimmage for very long gains. Fatigue also plays a factor when cold-weather teams play in hot weather during the early months of the season. Also returning to this year's incarnation is the much sought after 'co-op' play, which had found itself sitting on the sidelines since making the jump to the next-generation consoles. This mode finds players teaming up with a friend and taking on the CPU or two human opponents. Presentation On the next-generation systems former NFL and cover athlete hosts a segment called Marshall's Minute in which he discusses key star players and predicts the score prior to the game.
Weapons (see below) also get special introductions before games. Also on next-generation systems, the game features an intro composed by titled, 'Who Wants It More?' , after the slogan. Features Weapons Certain star players are deemed to have 'weapons' which can enhance their performances and create game-changing plays. For example, players with the 'Smart Quarterback' weapon are able to read defensive schemes and accordingly. Possession receivers can make tough catches over the middle, Shutdown corners can stay on even the toughest receivers, and Spectacular Catch receivers are able to leap over defenders and make difficult grabs.
Another added feature is to change players' positions to utilize their individual talents more effectively, such as (who can be converted from to ) and (who can be converted from wide receiver to tight end). It is also possible to move around offensive and defensive linemen with little effect to their overall rating. However, on the PlayStation 3 version of the game, player positions are locked and cannot be changed. The weapons feature can be turned on or off in the game settings.
Superstar Mode additions With the addition of the Campus Legend mode to the next-gen version of, players are now able to take their player from Campus Legend mode and import him into Madden's Superstar Mode. In addition, players are able to create a player, take over the careers of select rookies from the and use them in Superstar Mode. Also, the superstar's team can be chosen by the user based on what the menu-set 'Favorite Team' is. Camera angles have also been tweaked for the next gen of Madden 08 after complaints with its predecessor. Key attributes of superstars are assigned by players when creating them, rather than generated by random parents.
A number of features have been left out in this year's Wii version, most notably, the ability to edit the game player's superstars appearance as the Superstar Mirror is no longer selectable, and the Barber Shop in the City Map is also no longer selectable. Users are stuck with the random hair combination given to the user while registering their new superstar. Although certain new features have been added as well.
For example, a player can have more control over their character while firing agents, while the selection of rookies is more extensive, although it is not available for. Player attributes For the first time, a player can receive an attribute of 100 only for the best players and only for skill positions. (speed), (awareness), (awareness), (man coverage), Reggie Bush (acceleration), (impact blocking), (strength), and (juke move and elusiveness) as well as many of the Hall of Fame (HOF) unlockable players, are the only in the game with such skills. However, if the player's ratings are accessed, these attributes will drop back to 99. Player info There are certain players such as, and that are from the whose home state is blank. If the player moves the state, the blank spot is no longer present. Michael Vick is featured in the game as the Atlanta Falcons QB for the last time before his suspension from the NFL in August, 2007 for violating its player conduct policy.
Trophy room The trophy room in Madden 08 is similar to the My Shrine feature in. Trophies can be earned by completing in-game tasks (such as rushing for over 200 yards) or in other game modes (such as winning a Super Bowl in franchise mode).
Trophies can also be wagered in online head-to-head contests. As skill and experience progresses, the user can earn five EA Challenge rings, which have customizable team logos and colors. These features have been left out in the Wii version. Once a ring is unlocked, the player is given a code to buy the ring on Jostens.com.
Fantasy Challenge In the current-generation version, the game has a Fantasy challenge mode where the player adds players to an NFL team and plays through three different leagues in a single elimination tournament. Other teams can attempt to trade players and challenge the player to competitions to get players from the player's team. If the player plays well enough they reach the top league which has four fictional teams that play in a special way to win.
This mode is similar to Blitz: The League's campaign mode. Returning features A number of features missing from the first two next-generation versions of Madden return in Madden 08. These include Owner Mode, fantasy draft, roster-editing, and cooperative play-New, however, to the Xbox 360.
There are also mini games like a QB challenge. Other features In addition to the other versions, the Wii version features online gameplay, a Madden first for a console, as well as the integration of avatars, and features a few exclusive game modes. The PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube versions of Madden 08 have a -type game mode called Fantasy Challenge Mode. In this game mode, players draft the ultimate NFL dream team while advancing through four levels of gameplay.
Soundtrack The game soundtrack features 30 songs from various artists such as, and. ^ Buchanan, Levi (August 22, 2007). Retrieved May 26, 2015. ^ Cook, Brad.

The last Madden to appear on PC was Madden 08, which was quite some time ago. Given the popularity of the sport and the number of PCs out there, it's surprising that the franchise has been AWOL on the platform. We asked Cam Weber and Matt Bilbey, both vice presidents and general managers at EA Tiburon (Madden's developer) and EA Canada, respectively on the topic in a recent interview. Are we going to see more EA Sports titles on PC?
Bilbey: PC is literally based on demand. There's still the high demand for FIFA on the PC globally because of the global appetite for the game. I think that's less so with Madden, but I think if that changes and an opportunity presents itself, I think we would definitely leverage the opportunity. Weber: Yeah, I think with Madden in particular, it used to be a good business, and then it declined and the economics just didn't make sense anymore. Then the compounding problem is that I guess in the last four or five years.as we get away from PC development, it becomes more and more difficult to get back to it. We're open to it; it's just a matter of when's the right time and when does the opportunity make sense.
Bilbey: I think part of the vision you've heard about aligning on the Frostbite engine as a company makes that a lot easier going forward, because Frostbite is a very core PC engine that has the ability to move across consoles, up and down. With Madden set to use the Frostbite engine in the future (FIFA is making the jump this year) hopefully we'll see the franchise re-emerge on the platform. Having said that, it's disappointing that this hasn't happened already given that titles for this generation of home consoles are developed on PCs in the first place and this uniformity is a hallmark of this round of systems. For more from Bilbey and Weber on a range of topics, including more on Frostbite, bringing back NCAA and Fight Night, and other questions, check out the full interview at the latest installment of. Our Take Back when Electronic Arts unveiled the Ignite engine at the beginning of this console generation, the company told us it developed Ignite on PCs first, so it's curious that EA thinks there's been so little value in releasing Madden titles on PC. I wonder if EA's use of its own PC platform, Origin, over the more popular Steam, is hampering the company's perspective.
This smells of bs. If it came out on PC, I would likely buy it every year, maybe every other year. I guess they are just being sour because people want their games on Steam and not that atrocity known as Origin. Whatever, I'm not begging them for anything. If they want to make money, sell it on PC. There is no way it won't be profitable. If they want to be stubborn because PC gamers don't like them, then f off.
They won't be missed. If it wasn't for Bioware selling them their soul, I would not have bought an EA product in many many years.
